Munger Mode rating: 2 out of 5 — Sell. Our own rating from the research report below, on business quality first: moat durability and management, with price separating the top three.
We have watched DoorDash for years with genuine admiration for the operators and genuine skepticism about the economics. Both feelings survived our review of the June 2026 10-Q. This is the best-run company in a difficult industry — a founder-led logistics network that has out-executed every competitor, taken roughly 60% of U.S. food delivery, and grown revenue 36% in its latest quarter. But admiration for execution is not the same as conviction in a durable franchise. The business earns razor-thin GAAP operating margins (3.5% last quarter), leans heavily on stock compensation, faces permanent regulatory pressure on both its labor model and its pricing, and sells consumers a service they can and do compare against a rival app in ten seconds.
