Munger Mode rating: 2 out of 5 — Sell. Our own rating from the research report below, on business quality first: moat durability and management, with price separating the top three.
Written in the voice of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger, from the desk in Omaha. Iron Mountain is two companies wearing one trench coat. The first is a genuinely wonderful little franchise: the world's dominant custodian of paper records, a business with real switching costs, real pricing power, and customers who would rather renew for another decade than spend a week thinking about their boxes. The second is a capital-hungry conglomerate of data centers and electronics-recycling operations, growing fast, financed with roughly $17.5 billion of debt, and competing against rivals with deeper pockets and lower costs of capital.
