Munger Mode rating: 2 out of 5 — Sell. Our own rating from the research report below, on business quality first: moat durability and management, with price separating the top three.
Our Recommendation: ★★☆☆☆ (2 — Sell) Charlie and I have spent a combined century watching businesses, and one lesson has been hammered into us more times than we can count: the most dangerous moment in investing is when a genuinely good company collides with a genuinely great story. The story carries the price to a place the business cannot follow. Vertiv is the picture-postcard of that collision. It is a fine enterprise — better run today than it was five years ago, with real engineering muscle and a privileged seat at the AI infrastructure table. It is also priced as though the present boom is a permanent condition of the universe, which, in our experience, no boom has ever been. What follows is our honest assessment, built only from Vertiv's regulatory filings (the FY2025 10-K, the Q1 FY2026 10-Q and 8-K), its earnings calls, developments through May 2026, and today's market price.
Recent filings analysed: 8-K (2026-09-24), 10-K (2026-02-13), 10-Q (2025-10-22), 10-Q (2025-07-30).
